So we have entered a new year, and normally that means new beginnings and clean slates. However, in the fashion industry we work by seasons. So we are still in Summer (here in South Africa) and so most summer trends are still relevant.
What you will see this summer, is a lot of crop tops, high waisted shorts and skirts, a lot of rompas (jumpsuits), wooden platform heels, vintage jewellary, turbans, rings. Furthermore let us not forget wedges and maxi dresses. Sheer is making a wonderful return along with lace, and I must say this is a welcomed trend. I for one, have a couple of sheer blouses in my closet. They are a great piece to take from day to night.
In terms of colour, there is a balance of neutral tones and bright bold colours. But we are seeing a lot bright pinks and blues. Oranges are also start to feature. And yellows and greens are also great for this summer. This summer please do not be afraid to mix different textures and patterns with each other, and let us not forget colour blocking!
Sunglasses are an awesome accessory to adopt this summer. Vintage shapes are becoming very prominent. And with this trend, stick to classic shapes, and furthermore know your face shape before you launch into a trend.
